1688Warehouse is committed to maintaining a safe, lawful, and compliant purchasing, warehousing, consolidation, and international shipping service.
Certain products cannot be accepted into our warehouse, while other products require prior approval because they may be subject to special storage, handling, export, customs, carrier, or destination-country requirements.
This Prohibited & Restricted Items Policy applies to goods purchased through our purchasing service as well as goods purchased independently and sent to our China warehouse.
By using our services, customers agree to provide accurate and complete information about the goods they intend to purchase, store, consolidate, or ship.
1. Important Principle
A product being available for sale on 1688 or another Chinese marketplace does not automatically mean that it can be accepted by our warehouse or shipped internationally.
Likewise, a product that can be received at our warehouse may not necessarily be eligible for the customer’s preferred international shipping route.
Acceptance depends on factors including product type, composition, battery content, safety classification, applicable law, carrier rules, customs requirements, destination-country restrictions, and available shipping routes.
Customers should contact us before purchasing or sending any product that may fall into a restricted category.
2. Items We Do Not Accept
1688Warehouse does not knowingly accept goods that are illegal, unsafe, prohibited by law, or unsuitable for lawful warehouse handling or transportation.
This generally includes illegal drugs and controlled substances, explosives, firearms and ammunition, prohibited weapons, counterfeit goods, stolen goods, live animals, protected wildlife products, highly dangerous chemicals, radioactive materials, illegal pornography, forged documents, counterfeit currency, cash shipments, bank cards, passports, government identity documents, negotiable securities, and other goods prohibited by applicable law.
We also reserve the right to refuse any item that presents an unacceptable safety, legal, customs, intellectual-property, or operational risk.
3. Counterfeit and Intellectual Property Infringing Goods
We do not knowingly accept counterfeit products or goods that infringe trademarks, copyrights, patents, or other intellectual property rights.
Examples may include unauthorized copies of branded:
Clothing, shoes, handbags, watches, electronics, accessories, packaging, logos, labels, or other branded merchandise.
If a customer wishes to purchase or ship genuine branded products, we may request supporting information such as:
Proof of purchase, supplier information, authorization documents, invoices, or other evidence of authenticity.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the goods do not infringe third-party intellectual property rights.
4. Restricted Items Requiring Prior Approval
Some goods are not automatically prohibited but must be confirmed with us before purchase, warehouse delivery, or international shipping.
Restricted items may include:
Lithium batteries, products containing batteries, liquids, powders, pastes, chemicals, cosmetics, perfumes, sprays, medicines, medical devices, food, supplements, magnetic products, high-value goods, fragile goods, oversized cargo, heavy cargo, branded goods, and other products subject to special regulations.
Do not instruct a supplier to send restricted goods to our warehouse until our team has confirmed that we can accept them.
5. Lithium Batteries
Lithium batteries and products containing lithium batteries require prior approval.
Examples include:
Mobile phones, tablets, laptops, wireless earphones, smart watches, power banks, electric tools, drones, electric toys, electric bicycles, battery-powered equipment, and standalone lithium batteries.
Whether we can handle or ship these products depends on factors including:
Battery type, battery capacity, product configuration, whether the battery is installed in equipment, applicable documentation, destination country, and available shipping route.
Standalone lithium batteries may be subject to stricter requirements than batteries installed inside equipment.
Customers must accurately disclose battery information before shipment.
6. Power Banks and Standalone Batteries
Power banks and standalone batteries are considered higher-risk cargo for transportation purposes and must always be declared in advance.
Do not send these products to our warehouse without prior confirmation.
Additional packaging, documentation, testing reports, or specialized shipping arrangements may be required.
7. Liquids
Liquids require prior approval.
Examples may include:
Cosmetics, skincare products, oils, cleaning products, adhesives, inks, paints, beverages, chemical liquids, and other fluid products.
Some liquids may be accepted, while others may be restricted because of flammability, chemical composition, leakage risk, or carrier requirements.
Customers should provide accurate product information and, where requested, ingredient or safety documentation.
8. Powders
Powder products require prior approval.
Examples may include:
Cosmetic powder, food powder, chemical powder, industrial materials, pigments, supplements, and powdered raw materials.
Additional information may be required to confirm that the powder is safe, lawful, and suitable for the proposed transportation route.
9. Pastes, Gels, and Creams
Pastes, gels, and creams may be treated similarly to liquids and should be confirmed before shipping.
Examples include:
Creams, gels, adhesives, toothpaste, cosmetics, sealants, grease, and similar products.
Some routes may accept them while others may not.
10. Chemicals
Hazardous chemicals are generally prohibited unless we have specifically confirmed that suitable handling and transportation arrangements are available.
Chemicals that are flammable, corrosive, toxic, oxidizing, reactive, or otherwise classified as dangerous goods may be refused.
Non-hazardous chemical products may still require prior approval.
We may request documentation such as an SDS or MSDS before accepting or shipping chemical products.
11. Flammable and Combustible Products
Products that are flammable or highly combustible require special attention and may be prohibited.
Examples can include:
Certain solvents, fuels, aerosols, paints, adhesives, perfumes, alcohol-based products, lighter fluids, and pressurized products.
Customers must not send these goods without prior confirmation.
12. Aerosols and Pressurized Containers
Aerosol cans, compressed gases, pressurized containers, and similar products require prior approval and may be prohibited on many transportation routes.
Examples include:
Spray paint, aerosol cosmetics, pressurized cleaning products, gas cartridges, and compressed-gas containers.
13. Cosmetics and Personal Care Products
Many ordinary cosmetics may be accepted, but products containing liquids, alcohol, aerosols, powders, or restricted ingredients require prior confirmation.
Examples include:
Perfume, nail polish, facial creams, skincare liquids, sprays, cosmetics, hair-care products, and beauty products.
International transportation availability will depend on product composition and destination-country rules.
14. Perfume and Alcohol-Based Products
Perfume and other products containing significant quantities of alcohol may be classified as restricted or dangerous cargo.
These products must be declared and confirmed before warehouse delivery or shipping.
15. Food Products
Food products require prior approval.
Acceptance depends on:
Product type, shelf life, packaging, storage requirements, destination-country regulations, customs restrictions, and transportation route.
We generally do not recommend purchasing perishable goods through standard warehouse and consolidation services.
Customers are responsible for confirming whether food products may legally be imported into the destination country.
16. Medicines and Pharmaceutical Products
Prescription drugs, controlled medicines, and regulated pharmaceutical products may be prohibited or heavily restricted.
Customers must contact us before purchasing or sending any medicine.
We do not guarantee that pharmaceutical products can be imported into the customer’s destination country.
17. Supplements and Health Products
Health supplements, vitamins, herbal products, powders, capsules, and similar products may be subject to customs or regulatory requirements.
Prior confirmation is required.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the products comply with destination-country import regulations.
18. Medical Devices
Medical devices require prior confirmation.
Some ordinary medical supplies may be accepted, while regulated medical equipment may require:
Certification, licensing, registration, technical documentation, or destination-country approval.
1688Warehouse does not automatically verify whether a medical product is legally approved for sale or import in the customer’s country.
19. Magnetic Products
Strong magnets and products containing significant magnetic components require prior approval.
Examples may include:
Large magnets, speakers, motors, magnetic assemblies, and certain electronic components.
Transportation providers may impose special requirements because magnetic fields can affect certain transport systems.
20. Electronics
Most ordinary electronics may be accepted.
However, electronics containing:
Batteries, strong magnets, liquids, dangerous components, or regulated radio-frequency equipment
may require special confirmation.
Customers should accurately describe the product before international shipping.
21. High-Value Goods
High-value products must be declared to us in advance.
Examples may include:
Jewelry, precious metals, expensive watches, high-value electronics, luxury goods, collectibles, and other unusually valuable products.
Depending on the product, we may recommend:
Additional inspection, additional packaging, separate storage, special handling, or cargo insurance.
Additional fees may apply and will be communicated separately.
22. Fragile Goods
Fragile products may be accepted but should be declared before shipping.
Examples include:
Glass products, ceramics, lighting products, mirrors, screens, monitors, delicate instruments, and breakable decorations.
We may recommend additional protective packaging or reinforcement.
Additional materials or handling costs may apply and will be communicated separately.
23. Oversized and Heavy Cargo
Oversized, extremely heavy, palletized, or unusually shaped cargo must be confirmed before delivery to our warehouse.
Special warehouse handling, unloading, storage, repacking, or transportation arrangements may be required.
Any additional fee will be communicated separately.
24. Branded Products
Genuine branded products may be accepted where lawful and where appropriate documentation is available.
Customers may be asked to provide evidence supporting authenticity or authorization.
We will not knowingly assist with counterfeit or unauthorized replica products.
25. Tobacco and Nicotine Products
Cigarettes, tobacco, electronic cigarettes, vaping products, nicotine products, and related goods may be restricted or prohibited depending on applicable law, transportation route, and destination country.
These items must not be purchased or sent to the warehouse without prior written confirmation.
26. Alcoholic Beverages
Alcoholic beverages are subject to significant transportation, customs, and licensing restrictions.
Customers must contact us before purchasing or sending alcohol.
We may refuse such shipments where a compliant route is unavailable.
27. Weapons and Dangerous Equipment
Weapons and items intended primarily to cause injury are not accepted unless specifically permitted by applicable law and expressly approved by us in advance.
This generally includes firearms, ammunition, explosives, prohibited knives, offensive weapons, and other dangerous items.
28. Military, Police, and Tactical Items
Certain military, police, security, tactical, surveillance, or controlled equipment may be subject to legal or export restrictions.
These items require prior approval and may be refused.
29. Plants, Seeds, and Biological Materials
Live plants, seeds, soil, biological samples, animal products, and agricultural materials may be subject to quarantine and customs restrictions.
These goods require prior confirmation and may not be accepted.
Live animals are not accepted.
Protected wildlife, endangered species, and products derived from protected animals or plants are prohibited.
30. Adult Products
Lawful adult products may be subject to destination-country restrictions and carrier limitations.
Customers should confirm these products before purchasing or sending them to our warehouse.
Goods that are illegal under applicable law or prohibited in the destination country will not be handled.
31. Currency, Financial Instruments, and Identity Documents
We do not accept shipments containing:
Cash, counterfeit currency, blank payment cards, bank cards, passports, government-issued identification documents, securities, negotiable financial instruments, or other similar sensitive financial or identity items.
32. Illegal, Stolen, or Fraudulent Goods
We do not accept goods that we reasonably believe to be:
Stolen, illegally obtained, fraudulent, counterfeit, illegally exported, illegally imported, or connected with criminal activity.
We may cooperate with competent authorities where required by law.
33. Products Requiring Special Certification
Certain products may require regulatory certification before import or sale.
Examples may include:
Electrical products, radio-frequency devices, children’s products, machinery, medical devices, protective equipment, automotive parts, and other regulated products.
Customers are responsible for confirming the certification requirements applicable in their destination country.
Our warehouse receiving or shipping service does not constitute certification approval.
34. Destination-Country Restrictions
International shipping restrictions vary significantly between countries.
A product that can be shipped to one country may be prohibited or restricted in another.
Customers must provide the destination country before we can confirm the available shipping method for restricted products.
35. Warehouse Acceptance Does Not Guarantee International Shipping
This is an important condition of our service.
Receiving a product at our China warehouse does not guarantee that the product can be shipped internationally.
Transportation eligibility may depend on:
- Destination country
- Product type
- Carrier rules
- Customs restrictions
- Documentation
- Available routes
- Dangerous-goods classification
- Regulatory changes
If the customer’s preferred shipping method is unavailable, we may help explore another available route.
Any alternative route may involve different:
Pricing, transit time, documentation, or service conditions.
We do not guarantee that an alternative transportation route will always be available.
36. Customer Declaration Requirement
Customers must accurately disclose the nature of the goods they purchase or send to our warehouse.
This includes relevant information such as:
Product name, material, intended use, battery content, liquid content, chemical composition, brand, value, quantity, dangerous-goods characteristics, and other relevant information.
Customers must not deliberately misdescribe restricted goods as ordinary cargo.
37. Supporting Documents
For certain restricted products, we may request supporting documents before accepting or shipping the goods.
Depending on the product, these may include:
SDS/MSDS, battery reports, product specifications, ingredient information, certificates, invoices, authorization documents, proof of authenticity, or other compliance documentation.
Failure to provide required information may result in refusal of service.
38. Undeclared Restricted Goods
If a customer sends restricted goods to our warehouse without prior disclosure or approval, we reserve the right to:
Refuse the parcel, temporarily isolate the goods, suspend warehouse processing, return the goods, request the customer to arrange collection, require a different shipping solution, or take other reasonable action necessary for safety and compliance.
Any additional expenses caused by undeclared or improperly declared goods may be charged to the customer.
39. Costs Caused by Undeclared Goods
Where a customer fails to disclose restricted, prohibited, dangerous, or specially regulated goods, the customer may be responsible for resulting costs.
These may include:
Return freight, warehouse storage, special handling, inspection, repacking, disposal, penalties, carrier charges, customs charges, or other reasonable costs.
40. Unsafe Goods Discovered at the Warehouse
If goods present an immediate safety risk, we may take reasonable emergency measures to protect:
Employees, customers, neighboring goods, the warehouse, carriers, and the public.
This may include isolation, movement to a safer location, refusal, return, or contacting appropriate safety or regulatory authorities where necessary.
41. Customs Seizure or Government Action
1688Warehouse is not responsible for confiscation, detention, destruction, fines, or other government action caused by:
Prohibited goods, inaccurate declarations, missing permits, intellectual-property infringement, customer misrepresentation, or failure to comply with destination-country rules.
Customers are responsible for ensuring their goods are lawful for import.
42. Changes in Carrier Rules
Carrier and customs requirements may change without advance notice.
A product that was previously accepted on a shipping route may later become restricted.
Where this happens, we may:
Recommend another shipping method, request additional documents, hold the goods while options are reviewed, or ask the customer to arrange alternative handling.
Any new quotation will reflect the available route at that time.
43. Changes in Law or Regulation
International trade and transportation rules may change because of:
Government regulation, customs policy, sanctions, product safety requirements, carrier rules, destination-country legislation, or other regulatory developments.
We reserve the right to update our handling requirements accordingly.
44. This List Is Not Exhaustive
The products described in this Policy are examples and do not represent every possible prohibited or restricted item.
The list may change according to applicable laws, customs requirements, carrier policies, safety considerations, warehouse rules, and destination-country regulations.
If you are unsure whether a product can be accepted or shipped, contact us before purchasing it.
45. Customer Responsibility
Customers are responsible for:
Providing truthful product information, confirming whether products are legal in the destination country, obtaining required licenses or certifications, disclosing batteries and dangerous characteristics, avoiding counterfeit goods, and complying with applicable customs and import rules.
1688Warehouse may provide general assistance but does not replace professional legal, customs, regulatory, or product-compliance advice.
46. Our Right to Refuse Service
We reserve the right to refuse any product or shipment where we reasonably believe that accepting, storing, handling, or transporting it would:
Create a safety risk, violate law, breach carrier rules, expose the warehouse to regulatory risk, infringe third-party rights, or otherwise be unsuitable for our service.
We may also refuse a shipment if adequate product information has not been provided.
47. Before You Buy
If you are purchasing any product that may fall into a restricted category, we strongly recommend that you contact us before paying the supplier.
Send us:
The 1688 product link, product name, product description, quantity, battery information where applicable, relevant specifications, and destination country.
Our team can then check whether the product is suitable for our warehouse and available shipping routes.
48. Before You Send Goods to Our Warehouse
Do not send restricted or unusual goods without confirmation.
Please contact us first to obtain:
The correct warehouse receiving information and confirmation that the goods can be accepted.
This helps prevent unnecessary domestic return costs, storage delays, or transportation problems.
49. Relationship With Other Policies
This Prohibited & Restricted Items Policy should be read together with our:
Warehouse Terms & Storage Policy

The current version will be published on 1688warehouse.com.
The Last Updated date at the top of this page will indicate the latest revision.
